Dax Shepard recalls how he escaped death at a high school party

Dax Shepard has opened up about a terrifying experience from his high school years that went incredibly wrong when he almost died in a car accident.

The 51-year-old Armchair Expert co-host recalled the harrowing moment he drove from Toledo to Detroit in a Ford Probe.

He said he was with his friend and decided to sleep in the back while his buddy drove 85 mph on cruise control.

But apparently the driver fell asleep during the ride, letting the car lose its balance and eventually seeing it overturn.

Shepard recalled that the car “rolled 10 times” on the highway, dramatically missing the pine trees lining the road.

THE Hit and run The actor, however, remembered the terrible experience as a strange mix of fear and calm.

He said: “I definitely had that moment where I was like, ‘Oh wow, I’m going to die in a second,'” he said, adding that a strange sense of peace set in as the car turned.

Miraculously, they both crawled through the windows without major injuries or damage.

He said he wondered whether or not he had died over the next three days and called the experience “very memorable.”

Shepard and his wife Kristen Bell, who recently became the subject of online controversy over a social media post, are the parents of 13-year-old Lincoln and 11-year-old Delta.
