Pakistan’s Anti-Narcotics Force says it has launched a crackdown on drug trafficking around educational institutions and in several cities across the country.
According to a press release released Wednesday by the ANF, seven suspects were arrested during six separate operations, and 153.4 kilograms of narcotics were seized. He estimates the value of the drugs recovered at more than Rs11.7 million.
Target areas near educational establishments
According to ANF, officers recovered 7.7 kg of hashish from a suspect near a college in Lyari, Karachi. In Hyderabad, 2 kg of hashish was seized from a suspect near a university.
The ANF also said the arrested suspects admitted to selling drugs to students.
List of operations
Near Northern Bypass in Karachi, ANF recovered 120 kg of hashish from a vehicle and two suspects were arrested. Near the Peshawar ring road, 18 kg of hashish and 1.3 kg of ice (crystal meth) were seized from a vehicle and a suspect was arrested, according to the ANF.
In Peshawar, the ANF says 2.4 kg of hashish was recovered from a suspect near a cricket ground, while near Indus Highway in Kohat, 2 kg of hashish was seized and a suspect arrested.
According to the ANF, cases have been registered under the Narcotic Substances Control Act, 1997 and investigations are underway.
