PGA Tour moves Genesis Invitational out of Riviera due to Los Angeles wildfires

The PGA Tour announced Thursday that the Genesis Invitational would be moved to another location due to the Los Angeles wildfires that have ravaged the area.

The Riviera Country Club, where the tournament is being held, was part of the evacuation zone. The course is located in Pacific Palisades, one of the parts of Los Angeles decimated by the deadly wildfires.

It’s unclear where exactly the $20 million flagship event will take place. But the PGA Tour said events would begin on February 10 and the tournament itself would begin on February 13.

The course was not damaged by the wildfires that killed more than two dozen people and burned more than 12,000 structures.

“The PGA TOUR continues to focus on the safety and well-being of those impacted by the unprecedented natural disaster in Greater Los Angeles,” the organization said in a statement. “We are grateful for the efforts of first responders to save lives and the tireless work done to end the tragic wildfires.

“In collaboration with Genesis, The Riviera Country Club and TGR Live, and out of respect for the current situation, we have determined that the 2025 Genesis Invitational will be played at an alternate location the week of February 10-16. A venue update and additional tournament information will be provided in the coming days.

Tiger Woods, who is the tournament host, said this week that he was not focused on the event.

“We’re trying to figure everything out and make sure everyone is safe, and we have meetings planned in the future,” he said, according to the Los Angeles Times.

“But right now we’re not really focused on the tournament. It’s more about what we can do to help everyone who is struggling, who has lost their home and whose life has changed.”
