The Prince and Princess of Wales have shared their sincere condolences after the tragedy which struck the Canadian population and cost them nine lives.
Prince William and Princess Catherine released a statement on Instagram on Wednesday, February 11, which began: “We stand with all Canadians following this morning’s terrible tragedy. »
The royal couple continued: “Our thoughts are with the entire Tumbler Ridge community and we extend our deepest condolences to the families and friends affected by this devastating loss.”
The shooting at Tumbler Ridge High School in the British Columbia community left nine people dead and others injured, but the situation was kept from getting worse thanks to the courage shown by responders immediately.
The future king and queen also praised the courageous responders, writing: “We are very grateful for the courage shown by the students, staff and first responders who acted selflessly in the face of such violence. W&C.”
While the investigation is still ongoing, police found the shooter dead at the crime scene, after emergency services arrived two minutes after the Royal Canadian Mounted Police received reports that an active shooter had attacked the school.
For the moment, the secondary school and a neighboring primary school are on lockdown.
It comes after King Charles shared a statement expressing similar sentiments for the victims and praising the brave survivors.
