Today’s robot lawn mowers are more efficient than ever. I got a sneak peek at new models from most brands at CES 2026, and there are certainly some exciting new technologies on offer. However, when I met with George Ren, CEO of leading lawn robot brand Segway Navimow, to learn more about the company’s plans, he emphasized that they are not interested in feature wars.
Rather than just stacking features for more features, we strive to ensure our range solves problems.

He then specifies that the initial intention of the brand is to “free up time”, both in domestic and professional use. This could be because owners have more free time and are not busy with tedious tasks, or park managers have more energy to care for their plants.
A new state of mind
“The main challenge facing Navimow is not a simple technological advancement, but rather how to deeply integrate hardcore robotics technology with real-world scenarios and build a brand ecosystem with emotional resonance,” says George. “[It’s] how to make technology invisible through our R&D – users don’t care about RTK or AI algorithms, only whether mowing the lawn is aesthetically pleasing and whether using the product is hassle-free.
Functionally, this means that robot lawn mowers can handle whatever the terrain throws at them without getting stuck or stirring up the lawn, have navigation systems good enough to never get lost and need to be rescued, and can completely mow a lawn without a human needing to go back and finish the job.
“We spent a lot of effort optimizing adaptability to extreme weather conditions, handling complex terrain, and even simulating the random path patterns of manual mowing to make the results of machine operations closer to the ‘texture of human care,’” he continues. “This requires the team to move away from engineering thinking and redefine technical standards from the perspective of gardeners and users.”
The Segway Navimow 2026 range includes a compact mower that uses LiDAR – a navigation technology perfect for small yards with many obstacles and one of the biggest robotic lawn mower trends of 2026. A second compact mower (the i2 AWD) features all-wheel drive and is designed to be able to make sharp turns without damaging the lawn. The other main addition is the Navimow X4 series, designed to handle large residential spaces with efficiency and precision.
