United States women’s national soccer team legend Abby Wambach has announced she is leaving the Wasserman Agency over its founder’s involvement in the Epstein files.
Casey Wasserman, founder and CEO of the Wasserman Agency, exchanged flirtatious emails in 2003 with Ghislaine Maxwell, Jeffrey Epstein’s right-hand woman, according to documents included in the Justice Department’s latest release.
During the exchange, Wasserman told Maxwell, “I think about you all the time. So what do I have to do to see you in a tight leather outfit?” Another exchange showed Maxwell asking Wasserman if there would be enough fog during a future visit “so you could float naked on the beach and no one could see you unless they were up close?”

Wasserman replied, “or something like that.”
Wambach, a two-time Olympic gold medalist, 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup champion and member of the National Soccer Hall of Fame, announced via Instagram her decision to drop Wasserman.
She also called for Wasserman’s resignation.

“I have left the Wasserman Agency. I have read Casey Wasserman’s correspondence in the Epstein files,” Wambach wrote in a statement. “I know what I know, and I follow my instincts and my values. I will not participate in any trade deals under his leadership.
“I also have to say this: I’m grateful for my agent, who I’ve known for almost 20 years and trust. Casey should resign. He should leave, so more people like me don’t have to. I’m not sure what my next steps are. I don’t mind, I just know where I can’t be.”
Wambach wasn’t the only A-list talent to leave Wasserman, as artists Chappell Roan, Chelsea Cutler and others left the agency due to email correspondence.
“I hold my teams to the highest standards and I also have a duty to protect them. No artist, agent or employee should ever be expected to defend or ignore actions that conflict so deeply with our own moral values,” Roan said on Instagram about his decision to leave Wasserman.
Wasserman said she deeply regrets her correspondence with Maxwell, who was convicted of five counts of sex trafficking and child abuse in 2021. She is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence.
Wasserman also claims the emails were sent before his “horrific crimes came to light.”

“I never had a personal or professional relationship with Jeffrey Epstein,” Wasserman said in a statement. “As is well documented, I took a humanitarian trip as part of a Clinton Foundation delegation in 2002 aboard the Epstein plane. I am terribly sorry for having had any association with either.”
Wasserman has not been accused of any wrongdoing at this time.
