Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has said that the privacy-focused Midnight blockchain has no plans to integrate the privacy maxis of the zcash and monero communities into the Midnight chain.
“You’re not trying to convince anyone of Monero or ZCash,” he said during a Q&A session at Consensus Hong Kong on Thursday.
“They will definitely come in their own time, but they are a different demographic,” he said. “These are people who wake up every day and really care about their privacy, and they matter and are important, but what we’re targeting are the billions of people who don’t know they need privacy but give it to them by default.”
Midnight announced on Thursday that its mainnet would go live in March as a Cardano partner chain.
Hoskinson then asserted that the philosophy of privacy is not as simplistic as the Monero and Zcash communities often allude to.
“What Monero and ZCash have been trying to convince people is that it’s like a switch. We’re private. The switch is on. Not everyone is. The switch is off. That’s not how it works,” he said.
