Online concern grows after report on Imran Khan’s health in prison surfaces

A Supreme Court-ordered report revealing that PTI founder Imran Khan’s right eye is now functioning at only 15% capacity has sparked widespread reactions on social media, with journalists, analysts and supporters expressing concern over his health and prison conditions.

The report, submitted by lawyer Salman Safdar after a two-hour meeting at Adiala prison, details Khan’s complaints about his deteriorating vision, limited medical care and prolonged solitary confinement. He also described his daily routine and the facilities available in detention.

Following its publication, online platforms saw a wave of comments from public figures and users calling for improved medical care and fair treatment.

Chief Justice Yahya Afridi stressed that Khan, like all detainees, is entitled to equal medical care without preferential treatment, with the court emphasizing the need to ensure appropriate health safeguards for prisoners in state custody.

Veteran journalist Hamid Mir and prominent lawyers Reema Omer and Asad Ali Toor were among those who shared their reactions on social media.
