PESHAWAR:
In a bid to improve student safety and prevent possible malpractices, the Department of Political Science at Islamia College Peshawar has issued detailed guidelines prohibiting female students from any form of direct contact with male professors.
According to an official notice issued by the department, all interactions between students and teachers have been completely banned. Female students are strictly prohibited from entering the offices of male teachers, while male students are also not allowed to enter the offices of female teachers.
To address academic and other concerns, the college appointed male and female assistant professors as coordinators for male and female students, respectively. Any student requiring a meeting with a faculty member of the opposite sex must obtain prior approval of a Certificate of No Objection (CNP).
The notice further states that exam-related issues or complaints should be referred to the Student Complaints Committee for resolution, avoiding direct interactions with faculty.
The directive aligns with broader provincial efforts by the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa Department of Higher Education to reduce the risks of harassment in public universities, including mandatorily coordinating professors for grievances of female students and organizing regular awareness seminars on protection laws.
The guidelines, effective immediately, aim to foster a transparent, safe and accountable academic environment at the historic institution.
