ISLAMABAD:
The National Dialogue Committee (NDC) on Saturday urged Chief Justice Yahya Afridi to ensure compliance with the Supreme Court’s directives on the medical examination and treatment of incarcerated PTI founder and former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
Imran, who has been imprisoned in Adiala jail for two and a half years, is said to have lost 85 percent of the vision in his right eye.
PTI founder Salman Safdar’s lawyer – who was appointed as amicus curiae by the top court – was allowed to visit his client in prison earlier this week and said Imran started experiencing blurred and foggy vision three or four months ago.
He said that although he informed the prison director, no action was taken apart from giving him eye drops.
Information Minister Ata Tarar had earlier confirmed that Imran underwent a 20-minute medical procedure on January 24 at PIMS Hospital in Islamabad, saying he was “fine and healthy”.
