MUZAFFARABAD:
The state Judicial Policy Development Committee unanimously agreed that all district judge vehicles should display a monogram along with the judges’ designations.
Further, the committee decided that district judges would be exempted from maintaining logbooks but would have to adhere to the fuel limits prescribed for official vehicles as per existing laws.
The meeting of the State Judicial Policy Development Committee was held on Thursday under the chairmanship of Azad Jammu and Kashmir High Court Chief Justice Raja Saeed Akram Khan.
The committee also discussed the establishment of consumer courts in Azad Kashmir, unanimously agreeing that their creation was necessary. The legal secretary was tasked with taking stock.
The additional law secretary informed the committee that a bill to establish these courts was prepared in 2015, but due to financial crisis, it was not presented to the cabinet. The legal secretary was instructed to present the bill at the next meeting.
The meeting was attended by Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Khawaja Muhammad Naseem, Chief Justice of the High Court Justice Sadaqat Hussain Raja, Principal Justice of the High Court Justice Sardar Liaquat Shaheen, Secretary of State for Legal Affairs and other senior officials.
Chief Justice of Azad Jammu and Kashmir High Court Raja Saeed Akram welcomed all the members.
In his opening address, the Chief Justice highlighted that the State Judicial Policy Making Committee is the largest forum of the higher judiciary and its decisions are binding on all state institutions .
He stressed that the main objective of the forum was to ensure speedy and effective justice to the public. He mentioned that the committee decided to look into the issues hampering the delivery of justice.
The High Court exercises administrative control over both the High Court and the subordinate judiciary, and any decision taken by the National Judicial Policy Development Committee regarding the subordinate judiciary is implemented by the High Court itself. -even.
The Chief Justice expressed hope that the committee’s decisions would improve judicial performance and contribute to more efficient and expeditious delivery of justice.
The committee reviewed and unanimously approved all items on the agenda, including those regarding former district judges. The committee discussed issues related to former district judges.
