- New Galaxy Buds 4 leak suggests an expected feature isn’t coming
- Images suggest Galaxy Buds 4 case won’t feature a built-in speaker grill
- …the one that would emit sound to help you find your lost headphones
- It’s unclear if they’ll land at Unpacked next week, but fans aren’t happy
We’re just over a week away from Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event on February 25, and thanks to recent leaks, we have a rough idea of what to expect from the expected Galaxy Buds 4 – but new images reveal something quite unfortunate.
If you’ve been following along, you’ll know that the Galaxy Buds 4 and Galaxy Buds 4 Pro are set to make their big debut at the next Samsung event, and based on a recent series of leaks, it looks like they won’t be too different from the Galaxy Buds 3, except that the angular stem design will be phased out. However, there is a device finder upgrade that we thought we would get that Samsung seems to have abandoned.

This contradicts previous leaks spotted by Android Authority in November 2025, which were the first shared discoveries of what was supposed to be a new speaker grill next to what looks like the devices’ charging port and pairing button (see below). This no longer seems to be the case, which is rather disappointing, especially since competing models have already mastered this.
In the case of AirPods 4 for example, the Find My function allows you to track your missing AirPods by triggering a ringtone that the case emits. However, that’s just the tip of the iceberg: AirPods Pro 2 literally point you in the direction of your headphones.
When it comes to Galaxy Unpacked, headphones aren’t the only thing Samsung users are excited to see. Additionally, the company is expected to unveil new models joining Samsung’s lineup of top phones, including the Galaxy Trifold – but it’s speculation about the Galaxy Buds 4 that has audio fans craving new hardware upgrades.
“They never manage to solve problems properly”
In addition to changes to the case design, which users online have not hesitated to slander, the Galaxy Buds 4 and Galaxy Buds 4 Pro should correct a number of flaws of the latest range – at least we hope they do.
As with previous generations, it’s likely that the next edition of the standard Galaxy Buds will have the flat AirPods-style tip, while the next Galaxy Buds Pro will feature silicone tips, but whether or not Samsung will fix its fiddly eartip clipping system is another question.
On the other hand, now that Samsung is getting rid of the triangular stems on the earbuds, this should make it easier for users to perform swipe and pinch gestures to change the volume and pause audio – something we found quite tricky in the Galaxy Buds 3.
The situation with the Galaxy Buds 4 speaker grille is still very mysterious, and if we look at the leaks alone, they suggest that this feature will not be part of the next Galaxy Buds lineup. That said, we’re not ruling out the possibility that Samsung has a surprise in store for us, but for now we’ll just have to wait and see what’s in store on February 25.
