Karachi is expected to experience dry and cool weather over the next 24 hours, with intermittent strong winds, according to the Pakistan Meteorological Department.
The minimum temperature in the city on Friday was recorded at 12°C and it is expected to remain between 10 and 12°C.
The wind speed is recorded at 11 km/h, with a humidity level of 39%.
Yesterday, the Meteorological Department’s early warning center had forecast strong winds in Karachi.
According to the department, there was a possibility of occasional strong winds Friday and Saturday, which are expected to increase the intensity of the cold weather.
Other parts of the province, including Larkana, Tharparkar and Umerkot, experienced extreme cold, with risk of fog in central and northern districts of Sindh, especially during night and morning hours.
The Meteorological Department reported that a new western weather system entered Pakistan from Balochistan on January 18.
While no rain was expected in Karachi with this new system, cold winds from behind affected the city once the system moved towards the northern areas.
Chief Meteorologist Sardar Sarfraz had mentioned that Karachi is expected to experience cold and dry winds (cold wave) during the last week of the month due to the new western system.
This led to an increase in cold intensity due to dry and slightly stronger winds than usual.
