Asus has quietly included a “Windows 11 Pure OS” option in the specifications list of its new ExpertBook B5 G2 business laptop, which has gone largely unnoticed.
The Windows 11 version appears in technical charts rather than marketing materials, suggesting it is an operating system aimed at enterprise buyers rather than retail customers.
The choice of operating system sits alongside Windows 11 Pro, Home, and no OS configurations. It’s labeled “Windows 11 pure OS (not for open channel)”, wording that indicates an enterprise-only rollout rather than a version available through regular sales channels.

The ExpertBook B5 G2 itself arrived as the Copilot+ PC during a wider Asus sales announcement, but the unusual operating system option received little attention outside of spec sheets.
In the case of enterprise hardware, “not for open channel” generally means that the configuration is not sold through normal retail channels. It is intended for enterprise procurement, where IT teams deploy standardized system images.
While Asus hasn’t explained exactly what Pure OS includes (or excludes), the wording suggests a cleaner preload without the usual consumer-facing apps or additional software layers.
This is consistent with how large organizations typically purchase laptops. A simpler image reduces configuration time and avoids removing unwanted applications after deployment.
Similar clean install options already exist on business laptops from HP, Lenovo and Dell.
The ExpertBook B5 G2 itself focuses on familiar business priorities. It uses Intel Core Ultra processors with NPUs rated up to 50 TOPS, supports up to 96 GB of memory, and offers storage configurations up to 4 TB.
Security features include TPM 2.0, dual BIOS protection, biometric login, and optional smart card authentication.
The laptop is available in 14- and 16-inch versions with aluminum chassis options, a 16:10 display, and professional connectivity including Thunderbolt 4, HDMI, RJ45, and MicroSD.
Weight starts at 1.38kg for the smaller model, keeping it competitive in the business laptop segment.
