NYT Strands today (game #717) – the answers
The answers to today’s Strands, game #717, are…
- SLED
- BOBSLED
- SNOWBOARD
- HOCKEY
- CURLING
- SPANGRAM: WINTER SPORTS
- My rating: Easy
- My rating: Perfect
The first thing I thought of when reading about the “cold competition” theme was the Winter Olympics, but the easily spotted spangram was actually WINTER SPORTS.
I have a phobia of ice, having slipped on a patch of black ice and broken my leg a while ago, but even though I sometimes wince from falls during speed skating events, I really enjoy the Winter Games.
Skeleton, which is not shown here, is my favorite event: the courage to throw yourself onto a sheet of ice astounds me, as do the tiny movements that make the difference between the medalists.
Gameplay-wise, this was relatively easy, although I worked on several creative spellings of LUGE (why did I think it had an H in it) before finally getting it right.
