- The Ninja BlendBoss is available in the UK for £129.99 direct from Ninja
- It features a 1,200-watt motor to tackle tough smoothie ingredients
- Our US-based reviewer gave it four and a half stars out of five.
The Ninja BlendBoss – a funky-looking two-in-one blender and travel mug – is finally available to buy in the UK. Ninja has been teasing the arrival of the BlendBoss for several weeks now (a sneaky preview appeared on the company’s website last month), and if you’re dying to get your hands on one, it’s now on sale directly from Ninja for £129.99.
The BlendBoss consists of a circular base containing a powerful motor, with a travel cup that screws on top. Your smoothie is mixed directly in the cup; Once it’s ready, simply remove the cup from the base and replace the blade assembly with the sip and straw lid.
The travel mug is designed to fit in most cup holders, and the entire blender comes in a choice of fun color combinations, so you’ll want to carry it everywhere. Options include Cyberspace (dark blue), Lavender Lemonade (lilac and pale yellow), Watermelon Bubblegum (pink and green), Stone Mint (gray), and Blue Raspberry (blue and turquoise).
The blender has three blending presets (smoothie, blend, and crush), which use different pulse, pause, and blend patterns to handle different ingredients. Want manual control? The BlendBoss also has a pulse button for just that.
I’ve tested many portable blenders and smoothie makers here at TechRadar, and while they all make light work of soft ingredients like bananas and strawberries, they often struggle with tougher clients like ice cream, frozen fruit, and kale. This is largely due to their motors, which are typically between 800 and 1,000 watts, and cannot always power particularly hard or fibrous items.
The Ninja BlendBoss is different. Although its base is larger than average, it packs a 1,200-watt motor to make working with troublesome ingredients easier. This is good news for anyone who loves slushies or green smoothies; trust me, getting kale leaf flakes stuck between your teeth is no fun at all.
Blend like a boss?
Our US-based writer Karen Freeman got her hands on the BlendBoss when it launched in the US and was very impressed with its power, even when dealing with tough ingredients.
“In all cases, the blender was super fast and blended everything completely,” she wrote. “Even the spinach in one of my smoothies was so finely blended I couldn’t see or taste it.”
After putting the BlendBoss through its paces with different recipes, Karen concluded that “making silky smooth smoothies has never been more fun” and gave the BlendBoss an impressive four and a half stars out of five.
I’m also putting the BlendBoss through its paces in my kitchen (a process that involves lots of kale and blueberries), and I’ll bring you a full video review as soon as I’m done.
