Italian speed skaters won the team pursuit gold medal on Tuesday with a victory over the American team and Andrea Giovannini let them know.
Giovannini skated around the ice after winning gold and delivered Stephen Curry’s “go to sleep” taunt as he celebrated. Curry accomplished the gesture by hitting the dagger during the men’s gold medal basketball game against France at the 2024 Summer Olympics.

“The last lap we were in control,” he said via the New York Post. “And I was just waiting for that finish line to imitate Steph.
“[It’s] emblematic of composure.”
Giovannini admitted he had planned the celebration with his teammate a few days before the final round and was worried he would “forget” it.

The moment was brief with a photographer capturing the emote as he skated on the ice. Giovannini’s teammates Davide Ghiotto and Michele Malfatti also helped Italy win the gold medal. They finished with a time of 3:39.20 in the team pursuit.
Team USA’s Ethan Cepuran, Casey Dawson and Emery Lehman finished with a time of 3:43.71 and earned the silver medal. The team set a world record for the race in November in Salt Lake City. They clocked 3:32.49 in this race.

This is the second Olympic medal for the trio. They won a silver medal at the 2022 Beijing Olympics with Joey Matia.
