American Jake Canter had to wait what probably seemed like a millennium to see if he would finish on the podium in men’s Snowboard Slopestyle at the Winter Olympics on Wednesday.

Canter finished third after scoring 79.36 in her final run in the competition. But he still had to wait for Canadian Mark McMorris, Norwegian Marcus Kleveland and New Zealander Dane Menzies to finish their races before he could celebrate.

From the bottom of the hill, Canter saw McMorris crash hard to the ground on his final jump. Kleveland had a great final run but only got a score of 78.86. Menzies was the last snowboarder to leave and he crashed, lying on the ground in disbelief.

Canter finally celebrated when he learned he had won the bronze medal.
