It’s surreal to think that we’re already past the halfway point of February 2026. If time is simply passing too quickly for your liking, it might be worth putting your feet up and watching something on one or more of the world’s best streaming services this weekend.
Like last week’s roundup, there isn’t a huge amount of new movies and shows to choose from. Still, I’m sure you’ll find something interesting among our top seven picks of the week, which include The Night Agentthe final season of among its many. Happy broadcasting! – Tom Power, senior entertainment reporter
The Night Agent season 3 (Netflix)
Look on it
Pack your bags, because maverick FBI agent Peter Sutherland’s next mission is set to take us to Istanbul, Mexico, Washington, New York, And the Dominican Republic in The Night Agent season 3.
Tasked with tracking down a young Treasury agent who absconded with secret government information after killing his boss, Peter soon finds himself with a bounty on his head when he uncovers a dark money network that is rigging elections. As assassins close in to protect an international conspiracy, can Sutherland bring down this final house of cards?
Netflix is billing this high-stakes manhunt as Peter’s “most dangerous mission yet,” which is no small feat considering the success already enjoyed by Shawn Ryan’s spy thriller. – Amelia Schwanke, Entertainment Editor
56 days (First video)
Look on it
Prime Video was making a name for itself with consistently producing must-see shows aimed at 16-25 year olds, so it shouldn’t be surprising to see a romantic crime thriller. 56 days take center stage this week.
The steamy thriller stars Dove Cameron and Avan Jogia as Ciara and Oliver, who find themselves embroiled in a murder mystery after a whirlwind romance. The eight episodes of 56 days are already available on Prime Video, so I recommend watching this Amazon TV Original as soon as possible so no one spoils its ending before you reach it. – TP
Rental Family (Hulu/Disney+)
Look on it
The Brendan Fraser renaissance is a movement I have supported for a long time now. Indeed, his return to the spotlight after various personal issues is one that I welcome, especially for such a talented actor and such a humble person as him.
It is therefore a safe bet that the arrival of his latest film – a dramatic comedy entitled Family Rental – on Hulu and Disney+ means my weekend viewing is set. In this film, Fraser plays Philip, a struggling actor who lives in Japan and takes a second job at a family rental service. Using his skills, he plays various roles in the lives of strangers facing their own problems.
Another essential addition to Fraser’s oeuvre, Family Rental will make you laugh one minute and cry the next. A deeply compassionate, gentle and warm film that deserves more attention. – TP
The Last Thing He Said to Me season 2 (Apple TV)
Look on it
Laura Dave has only published the sequel to the bestselling novel The last thing he said to me in January, so it’s a surprise to see that Apple TV has already released the first episode of its second season.
Initially, Dave hadn’t planned a sequel, but the strong response to the story of Hannah, a wife searching for the truth about her husband Owen’s disappearance, made another chapter inevitable. For Jennifer Garner, who plays Hannah, a new season was a no-brainer. “Didn’t you realize you were writing one of the greatest thrillers of all time?” she asked Dave during a preview of Apple TV’s 2026 roster. We’ll see if the payoff is worth it in the next chapter of the Apple TV Original. – AS
Murder in Glitterball City (HBO Max)
If you loved Fenton Bailey and Randy Barbato’s 1998 cult classic Party Monster: The Shockumentarywho delved into New York’s infamous “Club Kids” scene, you won’t want to miss their new true crime documentary from HBO Max Murder in Glitterball City.
The story delves into the queer subculture of Louisville, Kentucky, following the 2010 murder of Jamie Carrol, a hairstylist and drag performer known as Ronicka Reed, whose body was found buried in the basement of a Victorian mansion.
At the center of the case are lovers Joey Banis and Jeffrey Mundt, who accuse the other in what became known as the “He said he said” trial. Taking us back to the chilling love triangle and its deadly outcome, this documentary will send shivers down your spine. – AS
The SpongeBob Movie: Finding SquarePants (Paramount+)
Look on it
A big guy, a big guy. If you’ve seen the viral Ice Spice dance videos on TikTok, you already know the principle of The SpongeBob Movie: Finding Squarepantswhich is now available on Paramount+.
Fed up with being nervous about everything, SpongeBob decides to put on his big guy pants and ride the biggest roller coaster in Bikini Bottom. But, when he bottles it, he ends up unknowingly helping The Flying Dutchman try to lift the curse from his life.
If you were under 10 in the 2000s and thought the original Spongebob The movie was the bee’s knees, this movie is for you. The animation style may have changed, but the heart certainly hasn’t. – Jasmine Valentine, entertainment journalist
The BAFTAs 2026 (BBC/E!/HBO Max)
Look on it
Can you believe Paddington Bear himself will be presenting at this year’s BAFTA Film Awards? Honestly, it’s worth looking into for that alone.
The BAFTAs are the last major awards show before this year’s Oscars, and are likely to run counter to Hollywood’s winners. I would safely bet on Jessie Buckley winning Best Actress for Hamnet and Timothée Chalamet winner of best actor for Marty Supremebut be prepared for potential surprises. – Joint venture
