Olympics: Team USA wins gold in mixed freestyle ski team aerials

The American team began one of the final days of the Winter Olympics on Saturday with a gold medal.

The group of Kaila Kuhn, Connor Curran and Christopher Lillis won the gold medal in the freestyle skiing mixed team aerials. The trio scored a total of 325.35, which was more than enough to beat Switzerland, China and Australia.

Lillis completed the full-full-full back double for a score of 117.19. Curran completed the back full-double and received a score of 113.72. Kuhn notched a 94.44.

This is the second consecutive gold medal in this event for the American team. The event has only been around since the 2022 Beijing Olympics. Last time it was Lillis, Ashley Caldwell and Justin Schoenefeld who scored 338.34. The Americans then beat China, Canada, Switzerland and the Russian Olympic Committee.

These are the first Olympic medals for Curran and Kuhn.

This was Curran’s first Olympics as he competed on the world junior circuit before earning a spot on Team USA. At 21, he is the youngest aerialist at the Olympic Games.

Kuhn was chosen to compete in the 2022 Beijing Olympics in women’s aerials, but finished in eighth place. She returned to win a gold medal at the 2025 Freestyle World Ski Championships in the women’s aerials and the mixed team event.

Another gold medal around Team USA’s neck meant they were 11th for the Games with 30 overall.
