NYT Strands today (game #723) – the answers
The answers to today’s Strands, game #723, are…
- ENCYCLOPEDIA
- DIRECTORY
- THESAURUS
- DICTIONARY
- SPANGRAM: RESEARCH
- My rating: Easy
- My rating: Perfect
The very first thing I thought of when I saw the “just for reference” theme was ENCYCLOPEDIA – perhaps the hardest word to hide in the Strands game and one that was immediately spotted.
DIRECTORY was slightly more difficult, but with only four game words and a diagonal spangram that perfectly divided the board, the biggest challenge today was correctly connecting the letters of THESAURUS.
Although versions of these four reference materials exist in multiple formats, I find it difficult to imagine them as anything other than books from the pre-digital age. This has many benefits, especially the joy of turning a random page and learning a new fact or word.
Yesterday’s NYT Strands Answers (Monday Feb 23, Thu #722)
- BRIDGE
- BODY
- SLEEVE
- NECK
- DOLL
- ANKLES
- CHAIN
- SPANGRAM: GUITAR
