Milo Ventimiglia has no problem if his daughter grows up relying on Rory Gilmore’s first love.
THE Gilmore Girls former, who played Jess Mariano, said PEOPLE that he would be perfectly fine if his one-year-old daughter Ke’ala sided with Dean (Jared Padalecki) in the long-running fan debate over Rory’s best match.
“I would be totally fine if my daughter ended up watching the show and she was the oldest member of the team,” Ventimiglia said. “I get it because I’m team Jared, so I get it.”
The actor’s casual stance came as fans continue to debate Rory’s romantic history more than two decades after the series first aired.
Dean was Rory’s first boyfriend, although their relationship ended publicly and painfully.
Jess followed, bringing her own complications before leaving Stars Hollow before graduation.
Rory later dated Logan (Matt Czuchry) during her years at Yale, ultimately turning down his proposal in Season 7 before reconnecting in the 2016 revival.
Ventimiglia praised his fellow actors, noting that despite the differences between their characters, Padalecki and Czuchry are “the best guys” off-screen.
“They couldn’t be more beautiful as human beings,” he said. “It’s nice that more than 20 years later we can all still talk about this show that we grew up on and come together as grown men just to recognize it and still have loving words for each other.”
His comment comes less than a year after Padalecki revealed he was actually Team Jess.
However, Czuchry admitted that his own choice had changed over time based on Rory’s evolution.
