Windscribe has added a new Clear Wi-Fi History feature to its desktop VPN apps, allowing users to clear the stored list of Wi-Fi networks that their device has accumulated over time.
Available through Windscribe’s Windows, macOS, and Linux apps, the new feature deletes the album from each hotspot a user has connected to with a single click, while keeping the user’s current connection active.
By clearing this hidden breadcrumb, Windscribe reduces the risk that a user’s physical movements will be reconstructed from Wi-Fi logs. The result is greater location privacy and fewer clues for anyone trying to track an individual. Subscribers can use this feature by opening their Windscribe desktop app and selecting the Clear Wi-Fi History option via Settings.
Selecting the option clears all previously saved Wi-Fi network entries on your device with a single click, without disconnecting from your current connection. This saves you from having to delete each network manually or juggling technical command line steps.
Windscribe’s new feature makes it harder for anyone with access to your device’s Wi-Fi history, like advertisers or hackers, to reconstruct a map of your physical movements.
By regularly clearing this network footprint, you can reduce the risk of offline tracking related to your device’s saved Wi-Fi data, adding another layer of privacy to Windscribe’s traditional VPN protection.
