- Ted Lasso Season 4 release month could have been revealed by accident
- One of its stars announced that it would be released in August
- Publicly, Apple has only confirmed that its hit TV Original will return around mid-2026.
Get ready to lace up your football boots this August, Ted Lasso fans, because that’s when season 4 will debut on Apple TV.
Well, according to Hannah Waddingham, who plays AFC Richmond owner Rebecca Welton in the hit series. Indeed, while speaking to Deadline, Waddingham seemed to let slip that his next chapter would hit the ground sometime in August. And given that Waddingham is quickly attempting to backpedal, it appears there’s more than an ounce of truth to his potential launch month.
Hannah Waddingham says ‘Ted Lasso’ season 4 is “an entirely different thing” and discusses returning for a fifth season #BAFTA pic.twitter.com/RcMxqCzinlFebruary 23, 2026
“It’s a whole different matter with our Lady Greyhounds,” Waddingham said of Ted Lasso Season 4 focuses on the AFC Richmond women’s soccer team. “I can’t wait for everyone to see what they came up with.
“[It’s coming out] August, I think,” Waddingham then added of her possible release month. Realizing she’d made a misstep, Waddingham immediately turned to her PR rep and asked, “Am I allowed to say August?” before turning back to the reporter and coyly adding, “What if I’m wrong? I think it’s August.”
Why an August 2026 launch would be the perfect time to release Ted Lasso season 4
This isn’t the first time we’ve heard of the sports comedy-drama returning to one of the best streaming services. In January, Apple confirmed Ted Lasso4 would fall by mid-2026. A launch in August would therefore certainly fit within the parameters of this publication window.
Still, an August release would be the perfect time to drop the next installment in the multi-award-winning series.
In the article linked above, I suggested that an August or September 2026 launch would be linked to the start of the 2026/27 English Premier League (EPL) season, which begins in mid-August. Meanwhile, the 2027 English Women’s Super League is expected to begin sometime in September. Considering Ted Lasso4 will see the titular football manager return to British shores to manage the AFC Richmond women’s team, her September exit could be even more appropriate than if she made her debut at the start of next season’s EPL campaign.
Anyway, thanks to Waddingham’s comments, I now consider myself something of a clairvoyant. Well, for movie and TV release windows, don’t ask me to predict this week’s lottery numbers.
