QUETTA:
Three members of the security forces were killed and another injured on Tuesday when unidentified assailants opened fire on a security vehicle in the Roghani area on the outskirts of Chaman, security officials said.
The attack occurred during a routine trip to the area, and the attackers fled immediately after the shooting, according to police sources.
The martyred and injured soldiers were transported to the Chaman civil hospital, where the injured official was said to be in stable condition, they added. Security forces cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to find the attackers.
Authorities noted that similar attacks had previously targeted police and security personnel in and around Chaman. Efforts are underway to strengthen security and maintain peace in the region, they said.

In another incident last week, at least six people were killed when unidentified armed assailants opened fire in the Dastak area of Panjgur district, about 60 kilometers from Panjgur town. The attackers also set fire to two vehicles before fleeing. Police teams launched a search operation, but the motive remains unclear and no group immediately claimed responsibility.
Balochistan has faced a persistent insurgency for years, with security forces frequently targeted by militants linked to banned groups such as the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the Balochistan Liberation Army. The government describes Indian-backed terrorist groups as “Fitna al-Hindustan”, while terrorists affiliated with the TTP are called “Fitna al-Khawarij”.
Authorities said intelligence operations had been intensified across the province in recent months to prevent attacks on security installations and civilians, amid ongoing concerns over the volatile security environment.
