After 20 minutes in the Principality, it looked like Paris Saint-Germain’s defense of their title was going to end in the play-off stage as they lost two goals to Monaco. However, Luis Enrique’s men made a strong comeback thanks to a strike from Achraf Hakimi and a double from substitute Désiré Doué.
The Parisians followed that up with a resounding 3-0 victory over Metz to return to the top of Ligue 1. Doué scored again, while 19-year-old Warren Zaire-Emery delivered another hugely impressive performance to win his seventh consecutive league match at the Parc des Princes.
While PSG will be full of confidence and hoping to qualify for the knockout stages, Monaco showed this weekend that they can pull off an epic comeback of their own. Trailing 2-0 at Lens, they scored three goals in 10 minutes to win all three points.
It’s a morale-boosting victory for Sébastien Pocognoli’s team ahead of the trip to Paris, but they can’t afford another slow start. Instead, they will look to Ansu Fati and Folarin Balogun to score an opening goal which would make things particularly interesting.
