World Bank country director Najy Benhassine on Friday dismissed reports that the international financial institution had criticized Pakistan’s Uraan plan, calling the claims a “misinterpretation.”

In a post on social networks X (formerly Twitter), Benhassine spoke of the confusion caused by the articles published on Friday.

He clarified that the reports had misinterpreted a specific sentence in the document outlining the World Bank Group’s new Country Partnership Framework for Pakistan (CPF), released earlier this week.

“We are engaging with the Government of Pakistan to ensure that the implementation of the new partnership framework is fully aligned and supports the implementation of Pakistan’s national plans at all levels of government,” the statement reads. message.

He further clarified that the sentence mentioned in the press articles did not in any way constitute an assessment of the Uraan plan or any of its sectoral chapters.

However, reports also indicate that Minister of Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal denied the WB’s claim, saying that the 5E framework and the local economic plan have been combined and are supported by sectoral targets.
