The TechRadar Australian PC Awards
The world of technology has never been more exciting – and TechRadar helps up to 30 million people around the world every month find and use the technology they love. Our world-class experts live and breathe the latest technology and, like a trusted friend or advisor, they seek to offer clear, unbiased advice.
The Australian PC Awards were launched in 2017 with the aim of leveraging our team’s countless hours of product testing and specialist knowledge to create a concise selection of the best products and services launched each calendar year. Since then, we’ve reviewed thousands of products in dozens of categories. The experience and knowledge of our editorial teams, along with rigorous testing and benchmarking processes, all lead to the selection of finalists and award winners that we are confident in recommending as the best available.
What it means to be an Australian PC Awards winner
When a product or service makes our winners list, you’ll know it has undergone objective, rigorous evaluation and analysis.
Every product or service we identify for inclusion in the prices is evaluated according to exactly the same criteria, regardless of business relationships. There are no illusory evaluations. Our goal is simply to determine the best options available in Australia for this particular category.
Only the best products in each category are selected by the judges. So whenever you see our Australian PC Awards badge displayed, you can be sure that the product is one of the best contenders in its field.
FAQs
How is a winner determined?
Australian PC Awards winners are hand-picked through a meticulous, multi-stage judging process by our expert judges. Product reviews conducted by TechRadar, as well as other PC-related sites within the global Future network, are compiled and benchmarked. These sites include Tom’s Hardware, PC Gamer, Windows Central and Tom’s Guide.
A shortlist of finalists is then established. Senior members of the editorial team evaluate and discuss all aspects of the products on this list before selecting a winner in each category, as well as rating highly recommended finalist candidates.
What are the judging criteria?
Our judging criteria vary for each category, but each product is rated using the same criteria, so you can be sure that we have rated each product the same way. We publish a preview of each category when announcing the winners. This covers significant technical and commercial developments during the judging period which contributed to the selection of winners. Key factors include innovation, value and quality.
Do you compare all the products on the market for the Awards?
We certainly aim to include as many products and vendors as possible from the market in the Australian PC Awards. However, there may be some categories – such as those in which hundreds or thousands of new products are launched each year – where it is not possible to include every product on the market. In these cases, we strive to ensure that we have included all potential finalists for a given category.
