Principal Divisional Staff Officer of Bangladesh Armed Forces Lt Gen SM Kamrul Hassan called on Defense Secretary Retired Lt Gen Muhammad Ali in Rawalpindi.
The discussion focused on expanding bilateral defense collaboration in all areas.
Speaking on the occasion, the Defense Secretary said that Pakistan attaches great importance to its relations with Bangladesh.
The visiting dignitary expressed Bangladesh’s aspiration for vibrant days of cooperation between the two countries.
Both sides expressed satisfaction with the continued collaboration between the two countries and hoped to strengthen cooperation in mutually beneficial areas.
Earlier, a senior Bangladeshi military official, Lieutenant General SM Kamr-ul-Hassan, visited Pakistan on Tuesday, marking a rare visit by a top Bangladeshi general.
He visited the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi, where he met Pakistani military leadership, including Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Syed Asim Munir, and Chairman Chiefs Committee of Joint Staff (CJCSC), General Sahir Shamshad Mirza.
The visit marks a thaw in bilateral relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh, which had been strained during Sheikh Hasina’s 15-year rule.
Since Hasina’s ouster in August, relations have improved, with the two countries stepping up diplomatic and military engagements.
The meetings focused on evolving regional security dynamics, strengthening military cooperation and strengthening defense relations.
Both sides stressed the importance of a resilient defense partnership and joint efforts for regional peace and stability.
Lieutenant General Hassan praised the Pakistan Army for its professionalism and sacrifices in the fight against terrorism, once again highlighting the growing cooperation between the two countries.
