Karachi placed on high alert amid Operation Ghazab Lil Haq

Reinforced security at entry points, airport; police call for vigilance and warn against the spread of rumors

Karachi has been placed on alert as part of the Pakistan Army’s “Operation Ghazab Lil Haq” against the Afghan Taliban, with police issuing a detailed public security advisory on Saturday.

Karachi Deputy Inspector General of Police Azad Khan has ordered heightened security measures across the metropolis following reports of escalating tensions between Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban regime.

According to a municipal police spokesperson, surveillance has been intensified while security has been further strengthened at key entry and exit points, major transport hubs and other sensitive facilities to anticipate any potential security threats. Law enforcement also increased surveillance in important public and commercial areas.

The advisory urges citizens to remain vigilant and stay informed through official announcements issued by police, law enforcement agencies and provincial authorities. The public has been asked to immediately report any suspicious activity, unusual movement, unattended objects or suspicious individuals at sensitive locations in Madadgar 15.

Citizens have been asked to strictly comply with instructions issued by the police and cooperate fully during snap checks, search operations and at security checkpoints.

Police also warned against spreading unverified information on social media, adding that recent false information regarding some malls and commercial areas had caused unnecessary panic. Citizens have been advised to rely only on official statements issued by the Sindh Police, local administration or government press briefings.

Travelers have been advised to leave home at least an hour earlier than usual when heading to the airport and other key locations. To reduce traffic congestion, only one person accompanying a passenger will be allowed at designated drop-off and pick-up points at the airport.

All measures have been taken to ensure peace, stability and public security, adding that law enforcement remains fully prepared to respond to any threat.
