ISLAMABAD:
To provide relief to postgraduate medical and dental students, the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has decided to enroll all admitted students and degree holders before January 16, 2023, after the award of their degrees.
The move effectively protected earlier batches from the stricter accreditation requirements introduced under the PMDC Act 2022.
At its meeting on January 7, 2026, the PMDC Council decided that all cases of students and graduates admitted or graduated up to January 16, 2023 will be recorded after the award of their degrees by the PMDC.
For students admitted after January 16, 2023, it will be mandatory that the degree awarding institution be recognized by the PMDC and the training center be accredited under Section 25 of the PMDC Act 2022.
This relief applies to qualifications such as MS, MD, MDS, MPhil, PhD, FCPS, MCPS and various degree programs obtained from Pakistani universities, institutions and the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan (CPSP). The PMDC has requested all eligible candidates to complete the registration process as per prescribed procedures.
