That started a Huskies hiatus. Huskies defenseman Kai Janviriya guided the puck up the ice and prepared to possibly send his team home with a victory.

However, as he entered the Massachusetts zone, the arena lights went out.

Neither team scored during overtime. The Huskies and Minutemen engaged in a shootout and Massachusetts managed to score a point in the shootout round after seven rounds.

UConn had a 3-2 lead in the third period when Jake Percival scored early in the period after a power play. But UMass responded with an equalizer from forward Jack Musa.

Massachusetts goaltender Michael Hrabal earned first star of the game with 50 saves in the victory.
