Sean “Diddy” Combs is expected to be released from prison earlier than expected, with his release date brought forward by about six weeks as he continues to appeal his four-year sentence.
According to a report from Page sixThe Federal Bureau of Prisons updated Combs’ release date from June 4, 2028 to April 25, 2028.
The change follows his acceptance into the Residential Substance Abuse Program (RDAP) in November, which can result in a reduced sentence for participants who fully commit.
The road to this earlier date has not been easy.
Combs’ sentence had actually been extended in November 2025, pushed back from May 8, 2028, to June 4, 2028, after he allegedly violated several prison rules.
He was also accused of participating in a three-way telephone conversation, which is prohibited at the facility.
The music mogul, who has been held at the Federal Correctional Institute at Fort Dix in New Jersey since his arrest in September 2024, is also fighting his conviction in court.
In December, his lawyers filed an appeal demanding either his immediate release, the overturning of the conviction, or a reduced sentence.
The appeal argued that prosecutors failed to prove their case and that the sentencing judge imposed sentences that violated his constitutional rights.
Prosecutors filed their opposition to the appeal in February.
Combs was charged with racketeering conspiracy, forcible sex trafficking, fraud or coercion, and transportation to engage in prostitution.
Following a two-month trial, he was convicted of two counts of transportation for the purpose of prostitution and acquitted of the remaining charges.
