67 Taliban terrorists killed in Balochistan, KP as Operation Ghazb Lil Haq intensifies

Terrorists attempted 16 physical attacks in Balochistan, all were repelled

At least 67 Taliban terrorists were killed in separate operations in Balochistan and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Tuesday, while a soldier of the Balochistan Frontier Corps (FC) was martyred during the ongoing counter-terrorism operations, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said.

“Operation Ghazab Lil Haq” was launched on Thursday evening after renewed clashes along the Pakistan-Afghan border, when Afghan Taliban forces fired on several locations, provoking rapid military retaliation. According to an earlier statement, Pakistani security forces killed 435 Afghan Taliban fighters and destroyed 188 tanks and vehicles during the operation. More than 630 Afghan personnel were injured, 188 tanks and armored vehicles were destroyed, 31 Afghan posts were captured and 51 sites across Afghanistan were successfully targeted in airstrikes.

According to Tarar, the terrorists carried out 16 physical attacks in Qilla Saifullah, Noshki and Chaman districts of Balochistan, all of which were successfully repelled by security forces. Troops also encountered fire at 25 additional locations, which were successfully foiled.

“A soldier of FC Balochistan North made the ultimate sacrifice while defending the motherland, while five soldiers were injured,” the minister said.

He added that security forces killed 27 Taliban terrorists during operations in Balochistan.

Meanwhile, in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, security forces repelled another round of attacks overnight. Tarar said a physical attack was attempted at one location, while firing was carried out at 12 separate locations.

“A physical attack was attempted at one location while firing was carried out at 12 locations which were all repelled without any loss of life,” he wrote.

The minister added that 40 Afghan Taliban terrorists were killed during night operations in the province.

These operations are part of an intensified national campaign against terrorist groups targeting security forces and border districts, particularly in areas bordering Afghanistan.

Earlier today, AFP journalists in Kabul heard multiple explosions and gunshots as Afghan and Pakistani troops continued clashes on the border. Explosions echoed through the capital along with anti-aircraft fire, while the Afghan Defense Ministry said fighting with Pakistani forces continued.

At the nearest border crossing, about 50 kilometers (30 miles) from Jalalabad, residents of Torkham said AFP the fighting which lasted several days continued.

The neighbors have been clashing along the border since Thursday, when Afghanistan launched a border offensive in response to Pakistani airstrikes.

Islamabad said the February airstrikes that triggered the escalation targeted terrorists. Islamabad accuses Afghanistan of not taking action against terrorist groups carrying out attacks in Pakistan, which the Taliban government rejects.

Border fighting has affected several Afghan provinces. The violence in recent days is the worst since October fighting that killed more than 70 people on both sides, with land borders between the neighbors largely closed since then.
