Passionate rivalry Author Rachel Reid brings back Shane Hollander and Ilya Rozanov in her new book Unrivaled.
The story continues after The long game and follows the couple in their 30s, showing how they deal with life, love and aging.
Even though the story focuses on the two, Reid says Shane is truly the hero of the trilogy.
“Even in The Long Game, it’s Shane. Even though the book focuses on Ilya, Shane is the one with that arc,” she told Out. “At the end of the day, Shane is our hero.”
Writing the characters in their 30s was a new challenge for Reid, as she said hockey players at that age start to face limitations and it was fun to explore how Shane deals with his body no longer functioning the way it used to.
However, it also gave him the opportunity to show how Shane and Ilya view the future and their lives together.
Unrivaled is the seventh book in Reid’s Game Changers series. Shane and Ilya are now married, live their love openly and even play on the same hockey team.
The book continues to explore love, growth, and identity while keeping Shane at the center, the hero fans have always loved.
