Persephone, one of Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre’s (CMLL) top competitors in the women’s division, will compete in the company’s historic show at Slam Fest next month.
CMLL will host its first standalone U.S. show at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas as fans descend on the city for days of professional wrestling action. For over 90 years, CMLL only hosted joint shows in the United States, with the company based in Mexico.
But CMLL’s Lucha Libre style of wrestling will be on display with Tokyo Joshi Pro Wrestling (TJPW), House of Glory (HOG), World Wonder Ring Stardom and Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling.

“I think it’s super exciting,” Persephone told PK Press Club Digital of her involvement in the historic show. “I think we all know the importance of this week. It’s the center of wrestling at this time. I think it’s all the companies, the promotions, whether they’re independent, small or big, we’re all coming together for this giant week of wrestling. I think it’s a really cool thing that CMLL is now a part of it, taking their part.
“As an independent wrestler at the time, I would join every once in a while, maybe a small independent show. I was a part of the week, but that wasn’t compared to now. We’re a bigger company. We’re the biggest company in Mexico and I think we’re expanding internationally to the point where we’re now part of Slam Fest – something that’s an all-American crowd that will be there. I think maybe the people who are there just to watch “The Wrestlers will get to know us because they may not know us as well as others. So, I think it’s a really great thing for CMLL as a company to branch out, but I also think fans get to know different styles, different companies that maybe they hadn’t heard of before. “
The El Paso, Texas native has made a name for herself in recent years. She has been with CMLL since 2023 and has made sporadic appearances for All Elite Wrestling and Ring of Honor since 2025.
She won the 2025 Amazonas Grand Prix and the 2024 CMLL Amazonas Universal Championship alongside Dalys La Caribeña, La Jarochita, Lluvia and La Catalina.

Persephone emphasized the importance of collaborations with other companies.
“I think there’s something in these current collaborations that we can expand on. We know each other very well,” she explained. “Now we can go into different territories. We can show what we can do, but at the same time, I think when you go to a different country, you kind of mix the styles. We introduce Lucha Libre, and then we face stars from the United States with a more American background. Then we go to Japan, and we are faced with a different style.
“I think it’s really great on a professional level, but even as a fan, I think it’s a great time to be a fan. I think right now it’s not just what there is and that’s it, it’s everything you can see in terms of professional wrestling. I think right now there’s so much and with the collaborations of all these different companies, you can just broaden your interest in wrestling. You get a little of everything and I think the big events like Slam Fest, Forbidden Doors or Fantastica Manias, which are real corporate collaborations, are just perfect for fans I think as a kid watching wrestling I see a bunch of different styles and I love seeing a masked wrestler watching this big American and this Japanese guy, you get a little bit of everything and I think it’s great to be a fan.
Persephone earned the right to face Mercedes Moné for the CMLL Women’s World Championship on Friday at La Noche de Las Amazonas. The two met in October for the title, but Moné retained it.
Persephone told PK Press Club Digital that she hasn’t interacted with Moné outside of her matches, but that she closely watched this generation of women’s professional wrestling when she was younger.
“I was still pretty young when she debuted and when she was growing up like I think I am right now. I’ve seen her grow like maybe other people are watching mine right now. And there’s definitely a lot of things that I could say that I took away from her in terms of common sense. Even then, in this match, she’s the shortest, and I think in many cases she was the shortest in terms of stature and physicality. She just wasn’t going to outdo the others But what I’ve always noticed for his technique and style is just savvy.
It’s the craftsmanship that earned Persephone praise from AEW co-founder Tony Khan in February.
“As far as young female wrestlers go, Persephone, who works with AEW and CMLL, has come in. I think Persephone is fantastic,” Khan said on the radio during Super Bowl week in San Francisco, via Slam Wrestling. “She also wrestled for me in ROH, and I think Persephone has all the tools. She’s a big star for CMLL, and she can be a big star in AEW as well.”

The 24-year-old said Khan’s praise meant a lot.
“I think it’s something, this is going to sound very arrogant and I’m not sorry, but I think my whole career, even before pro wrestling, I always knew I was a good athlete. I had scholarships in other sports before I decided to quit those sports to just focus on medicine and pro wrestling. So I always knew as a kid that I was a great athlete. In terms of sports, if I put my mind to it actually, I can be great at this sport And so, I always knew I was good at what I did.

“But every time I hear it, and especially from someone in a position like Tony, like he’s your boss. He’s someone who’s obviously way higher than just, no offense, but like the fan of an indie show. ‘You’re great.’ ‘THANKS.’ But someone like Tony tells you, I think it’s so much more special because it’s kind of a validation of everything I’ve worked for and having people at a higher level or obviously who have a lot more experience than me tell you that they see something in you and it kind of gives you the confidence that I have to keep pushing, I have to keep pushing. “
Slam Fest festivities will take place April 15-18 in Las Vegas.
