Chief of Defense Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir on Wednesday termed the use of Afghan soil by the Fitna Al Khawarij And Fitna al Hindustan for terrorism against Pakistan is “unacceptable”, warning that all necessary measures would be taken to neutralize the threat emanating from across the border.

Pakistan is currently carrying out “Operation Ghazab Lil Haq”, launched on Thursday evening after renewed clashes along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, when Afghan Taliban forces fired on several locations, provoking rapid military retaliation. The neighbors have been clashing along the border since last week, when Afghanistan launched a border offensive in response to Pakistani airstrikes.

The ISPR said the Marshal was given a comprehensive briefing on the security environment, ongoing intelligence-based operations and measures in place for border management. He was also briefed in detail about the ongoing operation and recent developments along the Pakistan-Afghan border.

“The marshal stressed that the use of Afghan soil by Fitna Al Khawarij And Fitna al Hindustan acts of terrorism against Pakistan are unacceptable and all necessary measures will be taken to neutralize the threat emanating from across the border. The Marshal reiterated that peace could prevail between the two sides only if the Afghan Taliban renounced its support to terrorism and terrorist organizations,” the ISPR said.

Interacting with officers and troops deployed in forward areas, CDF Munir praised their “professionalism, operational alertness and high morale” during the ongoing skirmishes. He also praised their unwavering commitment to safeguarding the country’s sovereignty and ensuring peace and stability in the region.

Appreciating the operational preparedness of the Pakistan Army, the Marshal expressed full confidence in the combat readiness, synergy and resilience of the formations deployed along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

CDF Munir was received on arrival by the Peshawar Corps Commander. He also laid a wreath at the Martyrs’ Monument to pay tribute to those who sacrificed themselves for the country. He offered prayers and reiterated that the sacrifices of the martyrs remained the cornerstone of Pakistan’s security and resilience.
