- TriZetto breaches exposed data of 3.4 million people
- Attackers siphoned off sensitive patient and insurance records for nearly a year.
- Company offering post-discovery identity monitoring services
The TriZetto data breach has been going on for almost a year and affected approximately 3.4 million people, the company admitted.
The company filed a new data breach notification with the Maine Attorney General’s Office and began notifying affected individuals about the incident, noting that it had spotted “suspicious activity within a web portal that certain customers of TPS healthcare providers use to access our system” on October 2, 2025.
The follow-up investigation determined that an anonymous threat actor accessed the system in November 2024 and stole patient data through October 2025.
Secure payment data
The data includes names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers (SSN), health insurance membership numbers, provider names, health insurance names, primary insured information, and other demographic, health, and health insurance information. TriZetto stressed that the payment card, bank account and other financial information were not affected by this incident.
“At present, we are not aware of any identity theft or fraud linked to the use of a data subject’s information,” he adds, although data like this could appear on the dark web even years later.
In the Maine AG filing, the company said exactly 3,433,965 people were affected. To help, TriZetto offers free identity theft monitoring services through Kroll.
TechCrunch says several organizations have already confirmed that their patients’ information was compromised in this breach, including OCHIN, a nonprofit providing health technology to rural and community healthcare providers.
Given the sensitivity of the data they create and hold, healthcare organizations are among the most popular targets for cybercriminals.
TriZetto (TPS) is a health technology company that creates software and similar tools for health insurers, hospitals and other healthcare organizations. The tools are mainly intended for the management of administrative and financial processes.
