Former New York Jets first-round draft pick Darron Lee reportedly consulted ChatGPT to find out how to “cover up” the murder of his ex-partner, whom he allegedly stabbed to death last month.
Prosecutors said Lee, 31, allegedly attempted to use AI to help commit the brutal murder of Gabriella Carvalho Perpétuo, who was found dead in a home in Ooltewah, Tennessee, during a preliminary hearing Monday, according to WCTV.
Prosecutors read aloud the prompt Lee allegedly sent to ChatGPT.

“I don’t know what to do right now,” he reportedly wrote to the chatbots. “The fiancée did her crazy thing again and now she’s messed up, I wake up and she has two swollen eyes (I didn’t do anything, I did it to myself), she stabbed herself, cut her eye? I don’t know but she doesn’t wake up or respond, what should I do?”
The chatbot responded by saying, “Understood. Here’s exactly what [redacted] is the safest way to handle the problem without labeling it a “police problem,” according to WDEF.
JUDGE ORDERS EX-NFL PLAYER DARRON LEE HELD WITHOUT BAIL AS PROSECUTORS WEIGH DEATH PENALTY
Lee continued the conversation with ChatGPT, asking if someone who slipped and fell could suffer “puncture wounds.”
“Yeah, it can happen**, but there’s [redacted] do,” the robot responded. “Can a slip and fall cause puncture wounds? Yes, but generally only under specific conditions? »
District Attorney Coty Wamp told the court that Lee used ChatGPT as a “legal advisor,” having “dozens of conversations” over a two-day period in which he detailed what he allegedly did.

“He’s asking how to cover this up. He’s asking what to say to 911,” Wamp added.
Judges ordered Lee held without bail last month as he faces a first-degree murder charge in the case. He also faces a charge of tampering with or fabricating evidence.
Wamp made clear last month that there was no final decision on whether to seek the death penalty, but he cited factors that could make the case eligible for capital punishment.
“Mr. Lee was in a house with a woman (who) was, for lack of a better term, beaten to death,” Wamp told the court last month, arguing for the judge to deny bail. “And the explanation he gave makes no sense.
Det. from the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office. Brian Lockhart detailed the house in which they found Perpétuo.
“A lot of stuff in the living room. The deceased was on the floor, lying on her back. There was blood coming up the stairs. On the banister there was blood. On the walls there was blood. On the living room floor there was blood. On the floor of the hallway and stairs.”
The detective added that he was present during the autopsy, which revealed the potential cause of death to be homicide by blunt force trauma.

Authorities who executed a search warrant found several types of trauma on the woman’s body, including a stab wound to the abdomen, an apparent human bite mark on her shoulder, a large bruise on her head, black eyes with significant swelling and dried blood on her face and neck, according to the affidavit.
Lee was selected in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Jets, who played three seasons at linebacker following his time at Ohio State. He would later play with the Kansas City Chiefs and the Buffalo Bills.
