The crackdown on profiteers continues

The anti-profiteering campaign continues across the city to ensure maximum relief to citizens.

In this regard, a meeting to review measures against overcharging was held at the commissioner’s office under the chairmanship of Karachi Commissioner Syed Hassan Naqvi.

During the meeting, the commissioner asked all deputy commissioners to take strict action against profiteers and ensure that official prices are strictly enforced.

The commissioner asked the officials not to show any leniency towards those involved in overcharging. He also directed officials on the ground to take on-the-spot action against profiteers to ensure availability of essential commodities at official rates.

Meanwhile, members of the commissioner’s monitoring team, including additional commissioners and deputy commissioners, submitted a report on the on-site actions taken so far during the month of Ramazan. The report mentions that fines of Rs 34.5 million were imposed on 4,243 profiteers in the last 19 days.

In addition, 91 stores were closed and 90 profiteers arrested, while prices were controlled at 18,771 outlets across the city.
