At the time of publication, Gunn has not confirmed Pierre’s involvement on social media. How Man of Tomorrow Could Simplify One of DC Comics’ Most Complicated Romances
It remains to be seen how Stewart de Pierre will be factored into Ministry of Transportthe story. However, an actor who appeared in Gunn’s Superman The film has previously suggested that Stewart’s potential involvement could allow next year’s follow-up to explore a particular romantic storyline between Stewart and their character.
Talk to Nerdist during the Superman During her press tour, Isabela Merced, who played Kendra Saunders/Hawkgirl in the first DCU film Chapter One, discussed such a possibility.
“I really like the idea, and that’s why I love the Lois and Clark stories — like this alien-human love story,” Merced said. “There’s just something so romantic about it to me. It’s like, ‘We shouldn’t, but we should, but we shouldn’t.'”
The main obstacle to Merced’s wish being granted is that Stewart and Hawkgirl have an incredibly complicated relationship across a whole bunch of DC projects.
On the one hand, in the Justice League animated series and broader DC comics story, this complex dynamic actually exists between Stewart and Shayera Hol, who go by the superhuman aliases Hawkgirl and Hawkwoman. Meanwhile, Saunders is more commonly associated with Carter Hall, aka Hawkman.
Given Hawkgirl’s extremely convoluted backstory – which isn’t helped by numerous source reworks – however, it’s possible that the DCU is simplifying things. The easiest way to do this? Make Stewart and Saunders Get Along The man of tomorrow. Or, at the very least, start laying the groundwork for a romantic relationship by creating some sexual tension in said film. Just don’t make it as inductive as the short-lived alliance of Bruce Banner and Natasha Romanoff in Marvel’s. Age of Ultron Please film, Mr. Gunn.
