Four civilians were killed and a five-year-old child was seriously injured after mortar shelling from across the border hit a village in Bajaur district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) on Sunday, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said.
In a statement published on X, he said the attack took place around 3 p.m. when Afghan Taliban forces fired artillery and mortar shells into the civilian area from across the border.

Tarar said Pakistani forces responded to the attack. “An appropriate and aggressive response is being made to the positions and infrastructure of the Afghan Taliban regime responsible for this despicable act,” he added.
The minister said the four victims – Sajid, Ayaz, Riaz and Muaz – were brothers. He added that residents of the region strongly condemned the attack and expressed their anger at the civilians being targeted.
“This cowardly and heinous targeting of civilians by the Afghan Taliban regime in collaboration with a terrorist organization Fitna-al-Khawarij “This is not only a serious violation of international law and basic human values, but also reflects their deep frustration and despair over heavy multi-pronged setbacks by the Pakistan Armed Forces through targeted attacks on terrorists and supporting infrastructure under Operation Ghazab Lil Haq,” he said.

Earlier in the day, while sharing details of Operation Ghazab-Lil-Haq, Tarar said the armed forces carried out night strikes targeting terrorist hideouts in Kandahar and Chitral sector, destroying a tunnel, technical infrastructure and equipment storage facilities used by the Afghan Taliban and Fitna-al-Khawarij.
Operation Ghazab Lil Haq was launched last month following renewed clashes along the Pakistan-Afghan border after Afghan Taliban forces fired on several locations, prompting rapid military retaliation from Pakistan.
Since then, neighboring countries have engaged in an escalation of hostilities along the border. The clashes intensified after Afghanistan launched a border offensive in response to previous Pakistani airstrikes targeting terrorist positions.
