Pakistan on Monday expressed its condolences to Ethiopia over devastating floods and landslides that hit parts of the country.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the affected communities and we commend the efforts of the Ethiopian authorities who are working tirelessly to help those in need,” Foreign Ministry spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said in a statement.
He reaffirmed Pakistan’s support to the people of Ethiopia and expressed Islamabad’s readiness to extend assistance in all possible ways.

State broadcaster APPLICATION reported that a landslide occurred in Laka Kebele in Gacha Baba Woreda, killing several people who were present in the area at the time, according to an official statement issued by the Ethiopian government.
Authorities also declared a three-day period of national mourning following a landslide in the Gamo area of Ethiopia’s southern regional state.
BBC At least 102 people have been killed in floods and landslides caused by heavy rains in the Gamo area of southern Ethiopia, according to local authorities. The official death toll, initially estimated at just over 30, rose sharply in 24 hours, with dozens of people still missing.
Most casualties were reported in mountainous areas where rain-soaked slopes collapsed after days of intense downpours. Officials said the disaster followed sustained rains in surrounding districts.
Arba Minch town and nearby areas experienced continuous heavy rains for two days, causing extensive damage to homes, infrastructure and agricultural land.
Mudslides blocked key roads while several bridges were flooded, raising fears of further disasters. Authorities have warned residents in vulnerable areas to remain vigilant as further flooding and landslides remain possible.
