Rachel McAdams pays tribute to Catherine O’Hara, Diane Keaton and more at the Oscars

McAdams honors “actresses whose talent and originality have expanded the world for us all”

Rachel McAdams leads Hollywood in honoring some of its greatest actresses at its most prestigious evening.

During the “In Memoriam” segment at the 2026 Oscars on March 15, the mean girls The star took the stage to honor Catherine O’Hara, Diane Keaton and other stars who have sadly passed away over the past year.

“Last year, we lost so many artists, including actresses whose talent and originality expanded the world for all of us,” McAdams, 47, began, naming icons like Claudia Cardinale and Diane Ladd.

A photo of Catherine O’Hara then appeared on the screen as the audience erupted in joy. McAdams continued: “Comedy genius and scene-stealer, our powerhouse and fellow Canadian, Catherine O’Hara. She made us laugh until we cried.”

Next up was Diane Keaton as McAdams listed her many memorable roles including Annie Hall, The Godfather, And Reds. “And this is only its first decade,” McAdams noted. “For more than 50 years, luminous on screen and indelible in life, believe me when I say that there is not an actress of my generation who is not inspired and captivated by her absolute singularity.”

Keaton died on October 11, 2025 from pneumonia at the age of 79. Meanwhile, O’Hara, known for her roles in Alone at home, Schitt’s Creek, Beetlejuiceand others, died earlier this year, on January 30, after a brief illness. She was 71 years old.

The segment also honored other Hollywood icons lost in the past year, including Rob Reiner, Robert Redford and Val Kilmer.
