DC Comics Fans Divided Over Future of DC Universe (DCU) TV Show Gold Booster.
The live-action series, which was one of several projects announced as part of Chapter One of the DCU in January 2023, appears to have suffered a major setback after its showrunner hinted they were no longer involved.
Indeed, as first spotted last Sunday (March 15) by the X/Twitter fan account DCdaily (see below), David Jenkins has deleted all Booster Gold-related posts that he had posted on his personal Instagram account. Jenkins was hired as Gold Boosterthe showrunner of last July, with the Our flag means death the creator also chose to write its pilot episode.

DC Studios co-head James Gunn has yet to comment on the Jenkins departure rumor – and I suspect he won’t either.
Of course, Gunn has made a habit of confirming and denying speculation about various DCU projects on his social media. However, he has never publicly acknowledged that Jenkins was given the reins of this HBO Max TV show, so I would be surprised if he was filming to clarify the truth behind this particular gossip.

Naturally, the big question on DC fans’ minds now is: will Gold Booster was abandoned internally, or is Jenkins’ apparent departure a relatively minor issue in the grand scheme of things?
As of right now, there doesn’t seem to be a consensus among the fan base. There are those who fear for the general fate of this DCU Chapter One production, but there are just as many who think there is nothing to worry about. After all, Gun and fellow studio co-head Peter Safran have regularly stated that announced projects would only go into full production if they were happy with a movie’s script or series’ scripts. For the latter, it is therefore plausible that Jenkins’ initial project was not up to par.

This is a position that, at first glance, is difficult to argue against. However, it has been more than three years since Gold Booster was first announced, so concerns about its development – especially eight months after securing a showrunner – shouldn’t be dismissed so easily.
Additionally, the collection of movies and shows that will make up DCU Chapter One, also known as “Gods and Monsters,” have been added since its lineup was initially revealed.
On the cinema side, following that of 2025 Superman called The man of tomorrow, clay faceand a Wonder Woman movie have been added to the chapter one list. Meanwhile, on the television side, a Superman spin-off series starring Jimmy Olsen, an animated version of Tom King Mister Miracle comic series, and Creature Commandos season 2 was also given the green light.
Many of these projects appear to take priority over others, including Gold Boosterfans of the time-traveling superhero wannabe are rightfully concerned about the status of his first-ever live-action portrayal. So all eyes are on Gunn and Safran to see if it’s still in active development.
