The LHC pleads against the dismissal of judges

.

LAHORE:

The Lahore High Court (LHC) has issued notices to the Attorney General of Pakistan and the Advocate General of Punjab, seeking their assistance in a petition challenging the denotification of sitting judges of election tribunals.

The court adjourned the hearing for two weeks.

Justice Khalid Ishaq heard the petition filed by PTI chief Rao Umar Hashim, represented by advocate Sameer Khosa.

The petitioner claimed that changes to the electoral law were made to illegally appoint retired judges to electoral tribunals. It was further argued that the ECP does not have the power to transfer election petitions from one court to another.
