Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP), Senator Rubina Khalid, visited Sheikh Zayed Hospital following the tragic incident the day before, where she inquired about the injured women and announced financial assistance to the affected families.
During the visit, Member Provincial Assembly Sardar Habibur Rehman, Medical Superintendent of the hospital and BISP officials were also present.
The President met the injured women, checked their condition and asked the authorities to ensure provision of the best possible medical facilities and full support.
Speaking to the media, Senator Rubina Khalid said a thorough investigation into the incident was underway and strict legal action would be taken against those responsible.
She added that allocations under BISP are disbursed through partner banks and in this case, a notice has been issued to the concerned bank for alleged negligence, along with imposition of penalty.
She announced that the families of the deceased women would receive Rs 1 million each, while the injured women would receive Rs 300,000 each as financial assistance.
