Netflix Clarifies Prince Harry and Meghan’s Deal After Surprising Claims

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, who signed their first deal with Netflix in 2020, have had a bitter falling out with the streaming giant, according to new reports.

THE Variety The report released Tuesday cited “six well-placed sources” who said the Sussexes’ deal at the company was “done” and that executives were “frustrated” by the “repackaged” equipment Harry and Meghan had used.

However, Bela Bajaria, head of Netflix, strongly refuted claims that there was any bad blood between the company and the Sussexes.

During her speech at the Next on Netflix event on Wednesday, Bela addressed this report and urged everyone to “check the facts a little bit.”

“Don’t believe what you read,” the content manager said. “Maybe we should all do a little fact-checking.”

She added, “But here’s the thing, we still have a relationship with them. We have films in development with them. We’ve had an incredible conversation with them. They have things in development on the TV and film side.”

The executive explained that “deals come and go all the time” at the streaming giant and that many deals are not renewed. Therefore, this was considered a minor issue.

“Those don’t get as much press for obvious reasons,” she noted. “So there’s no juicy story there.”
