Rustin Banks, product manager at Google Labs, has lifted the veil on the company’s latest “vibe” tool: Stitch.
Stitch takes what we already know about vibe coding – the name given to generating code with artificial intelligence – and applies it to the whole concept of software design.
With Stitch, users can start by sharing their intentions, feelings, or business goals, rather than specific plans, and the generative AI tool goes to work turning those ideas into reality.

Google hopes that Stitch will ultimately encourage users to explore multiple ideas, reflect, and self-critique (with the help of AI, of course), which could lead to higher quality results.
Stitch itself is already an existing product, but the company redesigned the user interface and repurposed the tool as an AI-driven “mood design” assistant. “It now offers a new infinite, AI-native canvas that gives your ideas the ability to move from first ideas to working prototypes,” Banks wrote.
The product is also useful for turning static designs into interactive elements, so it’s easy to visualize progress, and subsequent screens and automatically generated user journeys give users more direction for subsequent steps (which they can refine themselves).
But as if natural language prompts weren’t enough, Google also supports voice commands for a truly collaborative system, making it feel like working with a colleague who is simply much more efficient at generating results.
“By acting as a sounding board, AI helps you uncover your key ideas through dynamic critique and dialogue, ensuring you stay in your creative flow,” Banks added.
Finally, the Stitch MCP server and SDK open up broader capabilities with third-party connections.
Users can try the new Stitch now, although the company has not confirmed how or if prices will change based on the use of the AI token.
