It’s not all red carpet and applause for Barry Keoghan – and he doesn’t pretend otherwise.
The 33-year-old actor got candid during a recent chat on SiriusXM Morning Mixrevealing that the darkest corners of the internet are starting to wreak havoc.
“I think I’ve removed myself from the Internet, but I’m still a curious human being who wants to keep going and, if I go to an event or go somewhere, you want to see how it was received. And that’s not nice,” Barry said in a clip shared by Daily Elite.
“There’s a lot of hate online. There’s a lot of abuse about my appearance.”
And it’s not just a temporary inconvenience: it changes the way you live.
“And I say that being absolutely pure and honest with you. This is becoming a problem,” he admitted.
“So yeah, I don’t need to hide because I’m hiding. I don’t need to go places because actually, I don’t go places because of these things. But when it starts to seep into your art, it becomes a problem because then you don’t even want to be on screen anymore.”
That last part hits hard, because when one actor starts avoiding the screen, we all lose.
But the most memorable moment? It’s not even about him.
“It’s disappointing for the fans, but it’s also disappointing that my little boy has to read all of this when he grows up,” Barry explained.
